Mr. Newsom has practiced law in Houston since 1984. He graduated from
Baylor University (magna cum laude) in 1981 and from the University of Texas
School of Law in 1984. Mr. Newsom is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. He is
licensed to practice in the courts of the state of Texas, the United States District
Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of Texas and the United States
Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Mr. Newsom was formerly associated with the firm of Hinds & Meyer and was
formerly a partner with the firm of Funderburk & Funderburk. Mr. Newsom
practices in all areas of personal injury defense litigation including toxic tort,
premises liability, product liability, admiralty, and auto liability cases.
Mr. Newsom has extensive experience in large multi-party personal injury
lawsuits. This includes the successful defense of a $52,000,000.00 toxic
tort/personal injury lawsuit involving 289 plaintiffs during four and one-half
months of trial. Mr. Newsom has tried and won other large complex lawsuits
